Tangled String is in RR 7, ground level just off the parking lot with the water tower. The wood-floored performance space has superb acoustics and should go well with Phil's 1988 concert Ramirez guitar. Audience members are welcome to bring a beverage.
The concert will include works by Barrios, Merlin, Peter Maxwell Davies, Bach, and Piazzolla. Featured will be two works by Costa Rican composer and Grammy winner Edin Solis, the Pasaje Abierto and Tambito Josefino. The Danza from Pasaje Abierto was used in Phil's music video with film maker Jon Sawa.
Bill Kanengiser of the Los Angeles Guitar Quartet wrote: "That is AWESOME!! Really amazing visuals, cool piece, and fantastic playing. That director did a wonderful job; super- high level of creativity and quality. I loved all of it, but I think my favorite shot was that extreme slo-mo of the 6th string vibrating: Wow! Great work again! Man, LAGQ needs to have something like this! Does this guy ever film in LA?"
The composer's response was "Many thanks Phil!!! Very good work and excellent cinematography!" The Tambito is an ebullient Afro-Caribbean piece that has the guitarist playing percussion on the guitar, intricately interweaving that with traditional guitar techniques. It will be the next music video by Jon and Phil. Information about the concert is available at 256 797 1382, and Tangled String Studio on Facebook
