Consonare

Consonare, (from the Italian “sounding as one”) combines the wide dynamic range and versatility of the piano with the lyricism and tonal variety of the guitar for a new dimension in chamber music. Consisting of Phil Weaver, guitar, and Ingrid von Spakovsky, piano, this husband and wife team has been delighting audiences throughout the country and abroad with their unique sound.

Their recording on ACA digital received rave reviews in Fanfare and 20th Century Guitar magazines and has been broadcast on WNYC (New York City Public Radio), WABE Atlanta, Temple Public Radio Philadelphia, and WLRH Huntsville.

Consonare has performed on Hofstra University's International Artists Series, at the Philadelphia Museum of Art, the North River Concert Series in New York City, the York Arts Centre and Nonsuch Guitar Society in England, and Vanderbilt University in Nashville. They also performed a five state tour for Allied Concert Services in the Midwest. Consonare is the ensemble-in-residence at the University of Alabama in Huntsville where they are on the music faculty.

Quotes:
“A very exquisite and moving experience.” (Dr. Alexej Ugrinsky, International Artists Series, Hofstra University)

“In addition to skill, they bring a sense of joy to their work. Their virtuoso performance is not confined to the studio. If you get the chance, hear them live, it is well worth the trip.” (Jay Pilzer, 20th Century Guitar Magazine/September1999)

“Here is an extraordinarily attractive recording for those who love the classical guitar. Their ability to mix, blend, contrast, and orchestrate their instruments is altogether phenomenal. The recording convincingly captures every tonal shading of both instruments.” (Fanfare, The Magazine for Serious Record Collectors, November/December 1998)
